Eric Estornel is better known as Maetrik. Keen Big Shot readers might also know his productions under the names Mariel Ito and Estornel. Estornel has been DJing since 1993 and is a growing force in the underground scene. He’s released tracks on respected labels like Treibstoff, SubStatic, Morris Audio, Onitor, Immigrant, Iron Box Music, and many others. After releasing h release of his debut album Quality Exertion on Treibstoff, he’s been focusing on his productions as Maetrik. Right in time for Halloween, here is his latest remix of ‘The Paranormal’. Massive tune!

I would like to direct your attention towards this fresh release that is simply jammin’! Rawthentic Music brings you its 40th release with Argentina’s Loko titled “A Little Pepper”. Remixes include The Junkies and SiLenT. Each to his own, individual tracks come with their own flavor, and my stand-outs being the original and The Junkies. Very nice work, can’t wait to see what Loko has in store for us next. Support! ;)

If it’s true that wine gets better with age, then we can apply the very same about Tom Novy. Hip, wild, and definitely a shit-starter who knows how to rock a mean party, Tom seems to be getting ’loco’-er whereas most DJs’ passion embark to fade away and we get to see the image behind the icon. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him in Windsor, and it was one of the most memorable clubbing nights Boom Boom Room nightclub has experienced, full of energy and wicked tunes. Mr. Novy is the featured artist in DanceTrippin’s latest webcast.

I was first introduced to Anthony Pappa by good friend via his ‘Nubreed: Global Underground’ compilation dating some years ago. Instantly, from the opening track, I was drawn into his style of connecting progressive and techno. Here we are years later, and Anthony is going stronger than ever, delivering sets that are monstrous and owning the global scene with his trademark sound. This is his promo mix for the month of October, and I’m digging it a lot. A lot. You’ll get hooked too!

Brand new set from Richie Hawtin, and I have to admit, in my opinion this is his best set from 2009! I enjoyed it a lot. It is right up there with his Ibiza Podcast one. Quality tune selection, vintage Hawtin style when it comes to mixing and delivery, ready to go. I burned myself a copy as soon as I got it today, let me tell you it destroyed the bass in my car as I drove around. Minimal is at home and this is a home run by a longshot. Some excellent sets lately as we approach the end of ‘09… :)

Staying in Toronto spirit for another blog update, this time I’m bringing you Carlo Lio’s latest exclusive set from the ‘Comfort Zone’ which was long overdue. If you know the place, you know the vibe, know the music. If you don’t, download this and let your ears go on a journey into a very dark world of tech and minimal. Fucking groovy.

After a little (and much needed) break from EDM, I am back on it with a fresh ear and plenty of new material to cover. Altough I’ve been ‘away’, I kept my eyes (ears, really) peeled to new releases, artists breakthroughs and any other interesting information I came across. Such is this brilliant EP which came out in the beginning of month, and don’t think it got as much attention as it should have. Chris Fresque is the newest up-and-comer from Toronto, following in the footsteps of now established Carlo Lio, D-Unity and The Junkies to name a few. His techy style is infectious, insane basslines, the whole production reeks of professionalism. An artist you should keep an eye on.
