If anybody is going to bring tribal back (with a mean tech & minimal flava) and make it mainstream again, it’s these boys. D-Unity has been destroying the dance floors all over the globe for a minute now, and with releases such as their latest ‘Tribal Tech EP’, you can just feel they’re about to shake things up. When alikes of Richie Hawtin, Mark Knight, among other recognized deejays are playing the shit out of your records gig after gig, you know you’re onto something. D-Unity means business and they are here to stay, make sure to add them to your favorites on Beatport and keep an eye on them.

D-Unity – Tribal Tech EP

As hyped up as ‘Movement 2009‘ already is, yesterday delivered the ultimate jaw-dropper for any true techno head who will be part of the event! For the first time ever in festival’s history, Detroit River will be used as playground to spark the biggest afterparty of its magnitude, highlighted by the performance of two minimal veterans; Loco Dice vs. Luciano! Tickets are selling fast, and if you plan to attend, make sure to get yours quick! All information and details can be found here. While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out Loco Dice’s ‘The Lab 01‘ project which shows why this party is going to be the craziest one to hit Detroit all-summer long!

The boys that don’t need re-introduction, The Junkies are back with their newest edition of ‘I Love Toronto’ podcast series. It’s a curvy ride that starts off with some melodic minimal beats, relying  on deep and tech house grooves to set the tone. As the journey progresses, we find ourselves in a tribal environment with plenty of African-influenced elements ready to uplift anyone and make you wanna dance. If you like what you hear, I highly recommend to check out their newest collaboration with Carlo Lio that was released on Beatport today called ‘Scappiamo‘. Enjoy!

It feels good to be back! I had family visiting all the way from Germany for the last few weeks so wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Nice little break I needed to refuel and get my motivation into work mode again. How’s everybody doing? Hope all is well with you. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I blogged about my very first ‘Movement’ experience, here we are a year later and I am armed to the teeth for this year’s edition with a three-day pass and lots of interesting material I plan to cover exclusively for all of you, can’t wait! Anyway, while I haven’t taken the time to work on music or update the blog in last little bit, I did manage to occasionally peek for the latest news and cool articles I could post. Here are some of interesting ones I found:

- How would you like to win a set at the Ministry of Sound club in London, UK? Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? All you have to do is submit an hour-long mix to the kind folks at GloryHole Music! It’s that simple. All mixes will be listened and the winner will be announced on their site. All info can be found here, don’t forget the closing date for entires is June 6th. Good luck!

- Beatport has united with Pacha (Ibiza) to bring you this wicked contest. You and a guest will be flown to Ibiza and stay at the luxurious El Hotel for seven nights. Winners will receive VIP admission to Pacha nightclub and affiliated venues during their visit with complimentary dinner at the Pacha Restaurant. To enter participants must be confirmed users of Beatport and subscribe to the Pacha Recordings label in “My Beatport”. The winner will be selected at random and announced at Beatportal on June 15th, 2009. Doesn’t get much easier than this, does it?

- Are you a producer? Legendary Depeche Mode, cited as influence to many of today’s bigs, is looking for talented artists out there to remix their ‘Peace’ record. For more info, please click here.

- DanceTrippin TV has updated their video section, this time bringing you Robert Babicz live from Cocoon. Mr. Babicz delivers his unique style of melodic, techy tunes mixed with elements of acid. Neat video for you to enjoy.

That’s all for today, stay tuned as more updates are on their way…
