Dubfire has been single-handedly destroying the techno scene for a while now. With a remix after remix that generate huge buzz, Ali’s reputation as a techno and minimal producer grew immensely. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival 2008 back in May, and let me tell you, it was by far one of the greatest techno sets Detroiters have heard in a long, long time. It took everyone by surprise. I bet I wasn’t the only one who thought that the highlight of the night was when he dropped his own rework version of Richie Hawtin’s ’Spastik’ and the whole place erupted into cheers and applause. Talk about goosebumps. You could just feel the energy flowing through your body. Absolutely surreal. To put icing on the cake, Richie himself was hanging out in the DJ booth behind Ali when this all happened. Picture-perfect moment. The track I’m presenting you with today has been doing heavy damage ever since Winter Music Conference. One word to describe it: godly.
