Dave Ellesmere, also known as “Microfunk” or “2000 And One”, started his musical journey with infamous punk bands. A brief flirtation with acid house during the so-called “Summer of Love” introduced him to the sound of new electronica. Dave was hooked. He started experimenting and producing his own tracks which were uploaded to MP3.com. Fame and hype shortly followed. Not even within a week after uploading his first recordings, Derrick May picked one of Microfunk’s songs as his top 10 favorites. Needless to say, it was the big break Dave needed, and today he is still doing what he’s best known for, that fine techno-electro sound with a kick of minimal. BAM! “Pecan” is one of his releases that is often found being played by ”Les Grandes“ of ‘mnml’ land.
