Techno. Techno! And more TECHNO! I noticed that most individual page views my blog receives, go to those tracks heavily influenced by nothing but raw techno. Following in the steps of “Tramodyssee“, “Springlove“, and “Just So You Know“, I present you with another diamond in the dust. This time, I uploaded Andreas Kauffelt’s ”Every Morning”, which is a heavy-hitter by all means. As I often do, I always back-up my claims by presenting you with a video (click here) of the track being played live at the club, so you get a better idea of how it should would sound with an appropriate sound system.  Fellow DJs, get up on it – leave ‘em screaming for more! ;)

As a DJ, no one can question Boris Rush’s versatility; whether he’s creating a night woven with dark and mysterious beats, or charging up the dance floor with electrifying vocals backed with hard grooves, Boris Rush intuitively works a room with his creative mixing and programming style, playing music for the masses, as well as the most discriminating audiences. In spite of it all, however, it is only one thing that audiences truly sense when they hear Boris Rush spin. It’s the one thing that keeps his crowds coming back to him for more. It’s the force that keeps Boris Rush constantly moving forward in a world immersed in stillness. That thing is called the power of music.

Dave Ellesmere, also known as “Microfunk” or “2000 And One”, started his musical journey with infamous punk bands. A brief flirtation with acid house during the so-called “Summer of Love” introduced him to the sound of new electronica. Dave was hooked. He started experimenting and producing his own tracks which were uploaded to MP3.com. Fame and hype shortly followed. Not even within a week after uploading his first recordings, Derrick May picked one of Microfunk’s songs as his top 10 favorites. Needless to say, it was the big break Dave needed, and today he is still doing what he’s best known for, that fine techno-electro sound with a kick of minimal. BAM! “Pecan” is one of his releases that is often found being played by ”Les Grandes“ of ‘mnml’ land.

In case you were wondering why my blog has been lacking in the past few days, all I have to say is that I just experienced the best week of my life. I thought “DEMF” was quite amazing when I went to it a month ago, however, my Toronto trip exceeded all my expectations and made me realize how incredible of a party-city it is, so bad, that I am considering moving there.

The reason why I went is because a friend of mine, Anas Attia, was organizing a boat cruise with DJs on it. It was the ”first-of-a-kind” event for me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, only thing I knew for certain was the list of DJs who will appear there and that was it. Let me tell you guys, if you never been to these party gatherings before, you have to witness it for yourself. Words cannot explain the joy I felt while sailing off into the lake, carried by water and being bound by sound. It was simply magical. Incredible turn-out, amazing fucking music, tons of people, drinks, party like there is no tomorrow, what more could you ask for! By far the best thing about boat cruise was the fact that DJs were on the same level as everyone else. Everyone is real, friendly, and there to have a good time. There is no cockyness, no “I’m-better-than-you”, no feel that anyone else is above you. I don’t need to tell you how cool everybody was, I had an opportunity to meet in person my facebook pals and well-respected DJs such as Anthony Atalla (whom I joked about how short he is, haha, even tho he appears taller in his pictures, magic of photography eh :D ) and Neno Mileusnic.

The night before, I visited “the Guvernment“, where I saw DJ Dan and Donald Glaude absolutely tear the fucking room apart, along with Manzone & Strong, who are local Toronto DJs. Everything felt so surreal, that I still can’t convince myself it wasn’t just a dream. Partying on the rooftop until sunrise to a badass Toronto sound, in a club considered by many as one of the top nightclubs in the world. The only way I could describe ’TO sound’ would be a mix of minimal, techno, and (dirty) electro. A big shout-out to all the people I have met during my Toronto voyage, to friends that came with me and people I have met there, Masih thanks for letting me know about the boat and being a cool cat, and I can promise you I will see you guys soon. Even tho I didn’t meet you personally, I saw you on the boat and didn’t want to bug the birthday boy, Jelo what’s up! The summer just started, after all. ;)

So I don’t leave you without anything to download, I will introduce you to the sound of Toronto and one of the meanest DJs you will ever hear live, Manzone & Strong.

“Just So You Know” (Bass Mix) by D’Julz is a perfect example of a song that works like a charm when played at 130BPMs. While not exactly considered as an up-beat specialty, this beauty is sure to get your blood boiling during switch-ups and while mixing multiple tracks at once. It has a soothing bass loop that kind of puts you in a zone and helps your mind wander off into its own euphoria. Calming. Deep. If played at a high volume with a good sound system and perfect timing, it will tear the roof off! Enjoy. :)

Today’s track is yet another exclusive to ‘FeelingMNML’. It is coming to us from a young and talented Norwegian producer who goes by the name of “Joa”. He sent me the mp3 via Facebook and asked me to post it, providing that I like the track. At first, I was a bit sceptic, because I would not want to post something that doesn’t deliver quality and doesn’t measure up to my standards. Oh boy, was I ever wrong or what! “Vertigo” is an absolute smash, and it takes few listens to really grow on you and fully understand it’s beauty! It’s a nice techno track indeed. Reminds me a bit of some of the latest Dubfire’s productions. A bit of minimal, mixed with progressive techno, and it all comes together wonderfully. Hear it for yourself, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Keep up the good work Joa, best of luck to you my friend! :D

I’m giving you very fun little tune today. Honestly, I wasn’t sure whether to post it or not, but I must admit it is very cool once you forget where all the mnml samples came from. Let’s be real, I don’t care who you are, how old you are there is almost a guaranteed chance that you at least once played a Super Mario game in your life, and fell in love with it. It is one of the best game franchises ever created, if not the most popular one, and Andrea Giuliani made sure to never forget those fun moments from our childhood. ;)

Andrea Giuliani – Firemario (Original Mix)

P.S. Thought I’d give you a heads-up, I have few things planned out which I will be adding pretty soon to my “FeelingMnml” blog, such as wallpapers, CD reviews, even might post some full-length CDs, and expand into a new network, MySpace, so on. You don’t want to miss this, trust me. It’s a mnml takeover,

Zoran D.

Quick history lesson for you guys… He is the father of progressive house. He taught Richie how to be a fucking rockstar. By doing so, he changed techno. Minimal. Acid. He is, arguably, one of the biggest innovators of house music. Established Cocoon Records. The progression of sound. Of course, I am talking about one of my top 3 favorite artists of all-time, Sven Vath.  By far, one of the most respected and entertaining DJs/producers that graced the turntables. YouTube him. Just show this man some respect already, dammit! ;)

Sven Vath & Anthony Rother – Springlove (Original Mix)

Johnny D’s “Tramodyssee” is a definition of minimal techno. Beautifully crafted and layered in such basic manner, there really is no major breakdown in the entire song. It is more about the experience as a whole — when it strikes at you in middle of the dancefloor. Very uplifting and a sure way you get your body moving, I really can’t think of any other way to describe it. You just have to hear it for yourself and draw your own conclusions. Simply minimalicious.

“Pressure Cooker” doesn’t need any introduction; it is a classic by all means, and has evolved the sound of house music. In the days when house music did not have as many sub-categories, tracks, such as this one, crossed boundaries of creativity and took a different, more experimental approach. Progressive, electro, repetitive, among other genres we classify music under today, adopted their form thanks to artists like Mike Dunn aka MD3. It truly is a unique track, especially taking account years and years ago when it was made… I hope you all enjoy it.
